Rapid Prototyping

Rapid Prototyping addresses constantly changing, unanticipated mission requirements with unique engineering design solutions using standard off-the-shelf compo­nents and technology. Our definition of Rapid Prototyping is a sharp change from traditional major development programs, which are historically inflexible, have long timelines, and are expensive. Unlike the traditional model, Rapid Prototyping will allow federal users and operators to quickly and cost-effectively obtain vital solutions to fulfill urgent missions. The new role for Rapid Prototyping meets a crucial requirement as the federal government must now rapidly respond to unpredictable emerging threats such as irregular warfare and international crime within the constraints of reduced fiscal resources. Our capability offerings include:

  • Hardware/Software Design and Development: Through reverse engineering (CAD modeling), signal simulation (COTS-based Information Operations/Electronic Warfare (IO/EW), signal characterization (Quick Reaction Capabilities - QRCs) to combat Command and Control (C2), Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and analysis of data, Middle Bay Solutions helps clients rapidly develop and field intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) sensors and capabilities in response to critical mission needs

  • Mechanical Design and Fabrication: Create sophisticated 3D solid modeling programs to visualize design concepts, perform engineering analysis, and communicate detailed design data. New rapid prototyping technology enables the fabrication of small, precision components not possible using traditional methods. The result is faster product development cycle times and lower costs

  • Platform Modernization and Platform Integration: Independently furnish agencies with the necessary technical information for modernizing platforms without being solely reliant on OEMs. Platform modernization follows a four-step engineering process to: 1) understand what to change and why, 2) develop a design, 3) prototype the design, and 4) provide a Technical Data Package to the government for specifying the acquisition. With this information, an agency can steer engineering requirements, control the acquisition process, and avoid monopoly deals

  • Biometric and Forensic Development and Engineering: Identity protection technical solutions including, penetration testing, vulnerability and susceptibility analysis, biometric algorithm analysis (signal and image processing), hardware/software reverse engineering, identity protection mission experience and expertise, cyber exploit development and targeting, and biometric system test and evaluation, in order to drive solutions including but not limited to a biometric vulnerability assessment, biometric system defeat, cyber payload development, test-bed development, customized scenario-driven training, TTP development and demonstrations, and identity and biometric-enabled intelligence

  • Machine and Electronic Shops: ISO-certified facilities (certified to ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 13485) equipped with a fully functional prototype lab catered to the design and development of military clients’ products and devices. The lab is equipped to handle rapid prototyping, in house builds, and pre-production testing. The machine and electronic shops are equipped with the latest CNC machines and CAM software to manufacture prototypes in days and not months. The shop also has the capacity to run parts for both prototyping and manufacturing
